Further reopening halted by Ontario’s Government

The Ontario government says it will pause any further reopenings in the province. This all coming with a spike in new COVID numbers, at 190 yesterday and 185 today. Health Minister Christine Elliot had the time-line today.

 

New housing complete slated to be completed within a year

Site completion is wrapping up for a new seniors housing complete. At the end of Big Bend Avenue in Powassan, it’s slated to be a three-storey, 50-unit seniors’ complex. Powassan Mayor Peter McIsaac expects construction to begin this fall and take roughly one year to complete.
 

Water Pumps being tested today

Greater Sudbury Fire Services’ says it could get noisy today, during annual testing. It’s all for pumps on Ramsey Lake. Residents in Elizabeth Street are being warned. The testing will run periodically. Boaters are also asked to avoid the area.
 

Drivers tests now a go

In the Province, Driver testing services begin today with strict COVID-19 protocols. Ontarians will be able to book class G road tests and access all classes of driver testing services at DriveTest centres across Ontario.
 

Timmins Police investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision

The Timmins Police Service is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 5:30 this morning. It happened on Hwy 101 just east of Schumacher where the operator of an eastbound tractor-trailer unit struck a 59-year-old eastbound cyclist. Anyone with information should contact police.
 

“Body Cameras” still possible for North Bay Police

The North Bay Police Services Board is looking into body cameras for front line officers. North Bay Police Chief Scott Tod said today, they are still taking in “information” from what other police services have gathered as it prepares to implement the technology locally.
