Keep your kids home when sick – Public Health Sudbury and Districts
Public Health Sudbury and Districts is reminding parents to keep your children home, if they’re sick. Dr. Penny Sutcliffe issued the statement yesterday, indicating the should your child have something as simple as a runny nose or other COVID-19 symptoms that can’t be explained by any other condition, testing is in order. While it is frustrating, those are the current guidelines to keep COVID-19 out of our schools.
One new case of COVID-19 in Sudbury yesterday
One new case of COVID-19 was reported yesterday in North Eastern Ontario. It was in the Greater Sudbury region. It was said to be a travel related case. The individual was tested on September 26th and is now self isolating.
New COVID-19 walk in clinic opening in Sault Ste Marie
A new COVID-19 testing site is scheduled to open today in Sault Ste. Marie. In the 600 block of second line west, it’s next to the West-end Walk-In Clinic and Westend Pharmasave. A collaborative effort between the Walk-In Clinic and Assessment Centre, its hours of operation will be Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Maintenance being done today at the Snowdon Booster Station
Maintenance is being done today in Greater Sudbury on the Snowdon Booster Station in the Donovan. As a result, residents today may experience fluctuations in water pressure or water discolouration. For prolonged water discolouration issues, residents are advised to phone 311.
Blue Green Algae bloom found in Lake Nosbonsing
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit says that a harmful blue green algae bloom has been found in Lake Nosbonsing. Residents of Lake Nosbonsing may be affected depending on their closeness to the algae bloom, wind direction, and water flow.
Timmins Police respond to hunting firearms complaint
Timmins Police have received a number of complaints about hunting type firearms being used in city limits where hunting is prohibited. Most recently, in the northwest section of the city. There has been no injuries, but police are reminding residents of the legal ramifications of firing a hunting style weapon within city limits.
