3-new-cases of COVID-19 announced by the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit
Among case counts of COVID-19 yesterday into today, the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is reported three new cases. That brings the area’s total to six new cases in the last two days and nine since Nov. 30. The health unit said it is closely monitoring the data to determine whether the area should move from the green/protect designation under the provincial framework. In the latest cases, two people are from the Parry Sound area, and the third from Nipissing. Two of the cases involve individuals between the ages of 20-39, while the third age 19 or younger.
Public Health Sudbury & Districts, who are working within the yellow frame work, says their cases are going down. With no new cases yesterday, and one case resolved There are now seven active cases of COVID-19 in the region. While there have been five new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the last seven days, 11 were resolved.
Timmins Police looking for 19-year-old Kanina Manchester
The Timmins Police Service is renewing its appeal for public assistance in locating a local adult female. Kanina Manchester was last seen November 23rd. She is described as an Indigenous adult female, 5’7” tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds, with a medium complexion, brown eyes and long brown hair.
Skating is returning to local arenas in Greater Sudbury
The City of Greater Sudbury is resuming some programming at arenas. As part of its safe restart plan, public skating returns to local arenas beginning tomorrow. Residents must pre-register for sessions. Safety guidelines and protocols are in place at each of the city’s 14 community arenas. Stokely Creek Lodge says no activity this winter
Stokely Creek Lodge says there will be no cross-country skiing or snowshoeing this winter. The well-known Algoma winter tourist spot says it was either all or nothing. The owners recently announced the lodge will not be open for anyone to enjoy in the winter of 2020-21 due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
One of two drivers busted for street racing
Sudbury OPP were able to catch one of two drivers yesterday in an alleged street race. It happened on Regent Street during the early morning hours. The 43-year-old was caught going 110 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. His vehicle was impounded and his license was suspended.

The Timmins Police has launched its Festive RIDE Campaign for 2020. Cruisers will be out with lights flashing stopping drivers. Police say it’s all to meet demands of community safety. Drivers should consider themselves informed.
New light going up at major intersection
The municipality of Iron Bridge – Huron Shores will be putting a street light at the intersection of Sunset Beach Road and Highway 17. Council passed a motion to install the light in response to ratepayer concerns about the lighting at that juncture.
