Public health Sudbury and districts has announced another person has died as a result of COVID-19. It happened outbreak at Amberwood Suites retirement home. While no further information has been released, this is the fourth resident death associated with the outbreak.
A total of 7 new cases of COVID-19 were announced today by the health unit overall. All from Greater Sudbury, 4 are said to be from a close contact, two are travel related.
Among the case count, one new COVID-19 case has been reported in the St. Albert Adult Learning Centre’s personal support worker program. A letter from the Sudbury Catholic District School Board says the individual who tested positive for COVID-19 is currently self-isolating. The board said the situation is considered low risk by Public Health Sudbury & Districts.
Meanwhile, the Porcupine Health Unit is reporting 10 new COVID-19 cases among residents in its catchment area. The said cases are in the Kapuskasing and surrounding area. Elsewhere, three new cases of COVID-19 are being reported in Nipissing and two in Parry Sound.
HSN in Greater Sudbury is tightening restrictions on accessing the 6th floor, known as the COVID floor. Due to the number of cases on the floor, caregivers will no longer be able to enter the floor except for what the hospital calls “compassionate reasons.”
