Grade 9 class dismissed at St. Charles College

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board has dismissed a Grade 9 math class at St. Charles College. This is after a new case of COVID-19 has been found at the school. The board announced the new case in a letter on its website. Parents are encouraged to contact the school directly at if they have questions.
 

COVID-19 testing starting at 3-Greater Sudbury schools

Public Health Sudbury & Districts will offer COVID-19 testing in three schools in Greater Sudbury this week. St. Charles College, Marymount Academy, and Pius XII Catholic School. This is part of the province’s targeted voluntary testing program for asymptomatic students and staff to enhance safety within schools.
 

A 4th death reported at Extendicare Kapuskasing

A fourth death due to COVID-19 has been confirmed at Extendicare Kapuskasing. There are 35 positive cases of COVID-19 among residents and eight cases among staff, who are staying home.
 

13-new cases of COVID-19 announced by the PHU

The Porcupine Health Unit has reported 13 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of active cases reported in the region today to 15.
 

Ultra-cold freezer coming to Manitoulin

Manitoulin Health Centre… is expected to receive an ultra-cold freezer this week. It’s a piece of equipment that will allow the hospital to accommodate up to 22,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, enough for two doses for most people on the Island.
 

Woman caught speeding, driving impaired

A North Bay woman has been charged after a traffic stop on Highway 17. It happened when near the town of Bonfield. The woman was spotted going a high-rate of speed, but once stopped it was determined she was allegedly driving impaired. Her license has been suspended, and her vehicle impounded.

A Sault Ste Marie Police have charged one driver a collision that occurred during the morning of Jan. 27th. This is after a Black SUV said to be northbound on Peoples Road struck a vehicle that turned into the path of the vehicle from third Line. The driver of the black SUV was transported to hospital with minor injuries and released.
