COVID-19 outbreak at HSN grows to 3 patients and 2 staff
The COVID-19 Hospital outbreak now includes 3 patients and 2 staff. This is as the hospital has now cancelled 55 non-urgent surgeries. When the outbreak was initially declared over the weekend, HSN says one patient and one staff member had both tested positive.
New case of COVID-19 at a North Bay public school
The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit says a member of the Sunset Park Public School community has tested positive for COVID-19. Moreover, the person was at the school during their infectious period. Early Learning, Kindergarten JK/SK Immersion Class, and anyone who took the Stock Bus Lines – Bus 164 on February 4 and 5 have been dismissed. Contact tracing continues, and the individual is self isolating.
2-more Algoma residents test positive for COVID-19
Two more Algoma District residents have tested positive for COVID-19. It’s unknown how either caught novel coronavirus. Both are self-isolating. There are currently two COVID-19 hospitalizations in the area.
GSP – 29-year-old Stephanie Allen missing
Greater Sudbury Police are seeking the assistance of the public to locate 29-year-old Stephanie Allen. Stephanie was last seen on Feb. 4 between 9:30 and 11 p.m. on Kathleen Street. She was last seen wearing a black winter coat, a yellow and black plaid shirt and black boots. She is described as 5-3 tall and 110 lbs. with shoulder-length blonde hair.
Vaccines given to more LTC residents
Vaccines continue to roll out for residents at two long-term care facilities. As of yesterday, the Golden Manor had vaccinated 94 per cent of occupancy. While Extendicare Timmins had vaccinated 95 per cent of occupancy. Elsewhere and in Greater Sudbury Finlandia residents have recieved their COVID-19 fighting vaccine shots. Roughly 100 residents at Hoivakoti Nursing Home got their shots on Monday.
Sault Ste Marie vote to end 35-year agreement with Lions Club affecting Pointe des Chenes campground.
Sault Ste Marie city council has voted not to continue an arrangement under which the Lions Club has operated the municipally owned Pointe des Chenes campground. The 35-year-agreement came to an end with a 8 to 3 vote. The campground closure won’t affect the adjoining day park and beach, which will remain open.
