Potential COVID-19 exposure warning in Greater Sudbury

Public Health Sudbury and Districts is putting out a potential COVID-19 exposure warning. The warning is for anyone who attended Urban Air Adventure Park on Saturday, Feb. 27.  Those at the business at the time, should monitor for symptoms and seek a COVID-19 test should they become symptomatic.
 

Fire destroys home in Red Deer Lake

A fire has destroyed a mobile home it was in the Red Deer Lake area. It happened yesterday morning. Crews were called at around 9:30 a.m. Fortunately, no one was home at the time.  Five stations responded to the blaze and one firefighter sustained injury in their efforts to put the blaze out.  The fire department has not yet made a determination as to cause of the fire nor cost of damages.
 

North Bay more than doubles construction work

North Bay has managed to nail down more than double the amount of construction in the first two months of this year over last. The total amount of committed construction as of February 28 is more than $5 million over $1.98 million in 2020. Nearly half of this year’s construction is seen in the residential sector.
 

39-year-old charged following two vehicle collision

And a 39-year-old man from Sault Ste Marie has been charged following a weekend motor vehicle accident. Police say they responded to a motor-vehicle collision in the area of Black Road and McNabb Street just after 4p.m. Police allege that the accused had been travelling westbound on McNabb and struck a vehicle travelling northbound on Black Road. Police are warning against the dangers of driving impaired. The man is scheduled to be in court later this month.
 

East Ferris man charged following vehicle investigation

North Bay OPP have laid a number of charges against a 29-year-old East Ferris man.  This is after he was spotted in a vehicle deemed suspicious, parked at the end of a Callander road just after midnight on Saturday.  Upon investigation, the driver was appeared for prohibited and impaired driving. He was also found to be in possession of a weapon and narcotics.
 

Warnings of phone fraud in Timmins

The Timmins Police Service is warning residents of a potential fraud. Someone is calling recipients to tell them they’ve won a draw with a significant prize. It requires the “winner” to purchase and forward gift cards to satisfy administrative fees and related costs. Police are reminding residents that no one should ever be calling looking for financial information, and to simply hang up.

Laurentian Ski Hill opens in North Bay

For the first time all season, the Laurentian Ski Hill in North Bay will see skiers on the hill today.  The province ordered all downhill facilities in Ontario closed last year and Laurentian continued to be closed during the stay-at-home order locally. Today is open to season pass holders, and tomorrow to the general public.
