Three Health Unit Areas are now in the Yellow-Protect

The Porcupine Health Unit, Timiskaming Health Unit and North Bay Parry Sound District are now operating in the yellow – protect level of Ontario’s COVID-19 Framework. The announcement was made by the Ontario Government on Friday. Among other regulations, indoor gatherings can be 10 in size and gyms can move to 50 people indoors. Churches are still to operate at 30% capacity.
 

A pair of outbreaks are reported by PHSD

A pair of out breaks have been declared by Public Health Sudbury and Districts. This first is at Extendicare Falconbridge. This is after a staff member tested positive. All staff and residents will be tested over the next two days and contact tracing has been completed.
The second is at the Apartment Building at 323 Second Avenue North in Greater Sudbury. A high-risk exposure advisory is going out to anyone who was in the building starting March 6, 2021 moving forward. Those inside are being asked to monitor for symptoms and arrange a COVID-19 test.
 

One new case of COVID-19 reported by Algoma Public Health

Algoma Public Health is reporting one new COVID-19 case. It is from the Sault Ste. Marie area, and tested on March 20. The case is from close contact and is currently self-isolating.
Meanwhile, 
Two positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported at the construction camp of IAMGOLD’s Côté Gold mine project. It is located halfway between Sudbury and Timmins. The two infected individuals were in close contact before travelling to the site. As of news time this morning, there appears no evidence of local transmission.
 

That’s the season!  Laurentian Ski Hill.

Laurentian Ski Hill is calling it quits. Open just a short time ago, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, it’s now closed due to the weather. The ski hill was allowed to open in 2021 on March 9.
 

Stay off the ice – Police

Greater Sudbury Police Service are reminding the public to stay off the ice. This weekend, two different vehicles fell through the ice on Whitewater Lake in Azilda. There were no reported injuries, but the owners are responsible for removing their vehicles.
 

Man receiving care following “Distress incident”

A 26-year-old Greater Sudbury Police man is receiving care. This is after he was said to be in emotional distress yesterday in the area of Bridge of Nations on Paris Street. The Bridge of Nations on Paris Street is now open in both directions.

Male arrested following residence fire

North Bay police made an arrest at the scene of a fire. It happened at 413 Second Ave. W. yesterday. The call came in shortly after 10 a.m. Police, Fire and Ambulance all responded. The fire was contained in the residence and extinguished. Thankfully there were no injuries as a result of the fire.
 

Missing teen: 15-year old Jeremy Rowlinson

Sault Ste. Marie Police are looking for a missing teen. 15-year old Jeremy Rowlinson, was last seen March 16 at about 11:30 a.m. in the area of Trunk Road and Queensgate Boulevard. He is described as five-foot-10, about 155 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Rowlinson was last seen wearing black jeans, a grey long-sleeve shirt, a hat and running shoes.
Rowlinson is known to frequent the downtown area.
