10 new cases, one additional death reported by PHSD
Public Health Sudbury and Districts are reported a second death yesterday, due to COVID-19. Ten new cases of COVID-19 were reported yesterday. At last update, there were 81 active cases being monitored by public health.
2 Drivers stopped 50km over the limit
OPP say two stunt drivers have been nabbed on area roads. The first one, a 41-year-old driver from Sudbury was caught speeding on Skead Road and stopped by West Nipissing OPP. In the second instance, the West Nipissing OPP pulled over a vehicle on Highway 69 in Servos Township, in the District of Sudbury. The 26-year-old was from Brookin, Ont. Both men had their vehicles impounded and licenses suspended.
1 new case of COVID-19 yesterday by NBPS health unit
The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit reported one new case of COVID yesterday There were 12 active cases as of yesterday afternoon and one person is presently hospitalized. Roughly 37 percent of the over 18 population have received their first vaccine for COVID-19.
3 Charged by Timmins Police for Breach of stay at home order
The Timmins Police has charged three persons for breaching the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act. It’s following a traffic stop during the late evening hours of Monday, April 26 on Pine Street North. While completing a vehicle stop for a traffic violation, Timmins Police officers determined that none of the occupants of the vehicle shared a common address.
Soo Yard waste and leaf collection going ahead
The City of Sault Ste. Marie has announced that leaf and yard waste collection will go ahead as scheduled next week. Only biodegradable paper bags will be accepted. The yard waste collection program will continue until Nov. 19 weather permitting.
Elective surgeries are being delayed in North Bay
The North Bay Regional Health Centre says they will be delaying all elective surgeries such as knee replacements and hernia procedures, effective May 3. The action, according to the hospital is being taken to preserve health system capacity and help to ensure Ontario’s health care system can continue to meet the needs of critically ill patients.
