Vaccines now avalible for those 50+ in Greater Sudbury and area

Public Health Sudbury and Districts say Individuals 50 years of age and older in this calendar year (born in 1971 or earlier) can call to book an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Book by phone: 705-674-2299 (toll-free: 1-800-708-2505), between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., seven days a week.
Online: phsd.ca/COVID-19/vaccine-clinics for details on local vaccine eligibility, for booking information, and for upcoming vaccination clinic dates and locations.
Meanwhile,
The Porcupine Health Unit has now expanded its clinics to offer vaccines to Essential Workers Who Cannot Work from Home as part of the province’s COVID-19 Vaccination Plan – Phase 2. Vaccines are also available to individuals who are 40 years and older. To learn more about who is eligible in Phase 2, visit the Phase 2 priority groups page. North Bay Parry Sound district announced 8 new cases

The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit reported eight new cases today, all from the Parry Sound district.
Elsewhere,
Algoma Public Health reported three new cases of COVID-19 yesterday, all from Sault Ste. Marie and area. Two caught the virus from close contact. It’s unknown how the other person became infected. All three are self-isolating.
 

Elliot Lake Family Health team expanding vaccine clinics

The Elliot Lake Family Health Team’s COVID-19 vaccination program is expanding. They expect to receive about 451 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech version of the vaccine clinics today and tomorrow at the Collins Hall. They are now taking appointments from people aged 65 years and up.
 

Consider compost or the dump overburning

The wildfire season has yet to really flare up this year, and Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services are attempting to mitigate unnecessary outdoor burning. While burning is legal depending on property size and permit, methods such as composting or using the local landfill are encouraged.

Two Sudbury beaches to wave blue flags

“To-do Canada” has once again put out their list of Cleanest Beaches, or blue flag beaches in Ontario. On that list? The Moonlight Beach Located on the shores of Ramsey Lake in Greater Sudbury and the Bell Park Beaches, also on Ramsey Lake. The Blue Flag is one of the world’s most well-recognized eco-labels, and those who qualify must meet environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria.
 

Sands Motel being demolished in North Bay

The Sands Motel is been demolished. Crews began the work yesterday. which will see sections of McIntyre Street and Fisher Street reduced to one lane. The process will take a few weeks. It is not yet known what will happen with the property on the corner of McIntyre Street and Fisher Street as it is still privately owned.

Teen has been missing since April 23rd

The search continues for a missing Sault Ste. Marie teen. 15-year-old Jeremy Rowlinson was last seen April 23 at around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Great Northern Road and Third Line East. He was last seen dressed in black. His wardrobe includes a tuque and hoodie.
