Ontario moves into step two of its safe reopening today
Ontario moves into stage two of its reopening today. Moved up from July 2nd, Outdoor social gatherings of up to 25 people are permitted, along with indoor social gatherings of up to five people. Retail limits are expanding and personal care services where face coverings can be worn at all times can resume at 25 percent capacity and religious gatherings can move to 25% capacity per room.
Franco-Ontarian Flag raised at the A.Y. Jackson Lookout will now be there permanently
The Sudbury-created Franco-Ontarian Flag raised at the A.Y. Jackson Lookout, will now be there permanently. Raised June 24th, in honour of St-Jean-Baptiste Day it will now focus on Greater Sudbury’s rich Franco-Ontarian culture and history. The green and white flag will join other locations around the city, including Tom Davies Square, Pioneer Manor, James Jerome Sports Complex and the Flour Mill Museum.
ONTC will resume full service with new stops in Toronto
Ontario Northland will resume all regularly scheduled motorcoach routes starting Sunday. The restart will add two new stops in Toronto. One at Toronto’s Union Station Bus Terminal and the King City GO station. As of July 4, Ontario Northland will no longer stop at the Toronto Coach Terminal on Bay Street, closing July 7.
New swimming advisory at Bell Park Main Beach
Health Sudbury and districts have issued a swimming advisory. It’s for Bell Park Main Beach. Evidently, water samples exceed the acceptable bacteriological water quality standards, and signage has been posted until further notice.
Outbreak declared at Faith Chapel Christian Centre
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the Faith Chapel Christian Centre in North Bay. A news release indicates five individuals associated with the outbreak are complying with self-isolation requirements. Those who attended the chapel on or between June 13th and 20th are advised to call the Health Unit.
Temiskaming OPP looking into the theft of dirt bike
Temiskaming OPP are looking into a theft. It is for a dirt bike taken from a property on Davidson Street in the City of Temiskaming Shores. The bike itself is a red and white HONDA CRF dirt bike, valued at $3500.

Sault Ste Marie Police, fire and PUC respond to a downed pole
Sault Ste Marie police, fire, and PUC responded to the scene of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Boundary Road and Bennett Boulevard yesterday. It happened at around 7 p.m. One of the vehicles, an SUV, collided with a utility pole, which was knocked flat. The collision is under investigation and the cause is unknown at this time.
Seemless MD comes to HSN
HSN in Greater Sudbury now has a new program. SeamlessMD. It’s part of Ontario Health’s remote patient initiative aimed at safer home care during the pandemic. An app that allows patients and the hospital to be virtually connected at home before and after hip and knee replacement surgery. It means patients are now able to go home on either the day of the procedure or the following day, reducing backlog for the hospital.
Timmins looking into composting program
New funding will help the city of Timmins further explore a local composting program. They’ve received $86,500 for a feasibility study looking at transforming “its wastewater pollution control plant into a net-zero resource recovery facility. The city says they’ve been looking into a compost program as approximately 43 percent of household waste is made up of organic material that could be diverted.
