Sudbury Mayor asks tax levy increase be above 3%

Sudbury Mayor Brian Bigger continues to ask city council to consider a tax hike of at least 3% for the coming year. In short, he says in order to keep the budget as tight as possible, moving the budget to at least that mark is prudent. City council thus far has requested a proposed tax increase no greater than three percent. That said, the Greater Sudbury Police Service budget came in at $500,000 more than previously estimated last month, which would bump the overall increase to 3.2 percent.
