Officials looking into early morning explosion in Greater Sudbury

Officials are looking into an explosion early this morning. It happened in a shipping container at GFL Environmental on Smelter Road in Coniston. In a release, the City of Greater Sudbury said people in the town “were alerted to a loud noise and the strong smell of chlorine” following the explosion. There is limited access to the road while the investigation continues. Fire services are on scene. There is no current threat to the public.
