Discussion is underway in Greater Sudbury after numbers indicate, offload delays from Paramedics to HSN jumped by 26% in 2023.

Not everyone was at school today…. an issue in a Mattawa school’s mechanical room forced the school to close its doors today. The issue was in the Mechanical Room at St. Victor Catholic Elementary School’s mechanical room yesterday. The issue carried over into today.

The Timmins Red Cross is lending assistance to two left homeless following a trailer fire early yesterday on Eagle Crescent. There is no word as the cause of of the blaze.

While the numbers are not yet all the way in, Algoma U says they’re expecting 2,000-2,500 international students this year, a slight drop from last year.

The Earlton Steam Show has been cancelled this year and organizers say they’re now assessing the future of the show.

A number of students in Greater Sudbury have done their part in sprucing up an outdoor patio space at the Sudbury Theatre Centre building in downtown Sudbury. Grade 11 and 12 students from Bishop Alexander Carter Catholic Secondary School in Hanmer partnered with Yes Theatre to make it happen.

There were no injuries after city fire crews extinguished a fire in a house on the 800 block of Peninsula Road in North Bay. It happened just before the weekend Friday morning. Thankfully there no injuries.

Among all the other plans for spring clean-up in Timmins this year a new initiative called “Adopt-a-Block” is going ahead. Businesses and schools are encouraged to clean up a neighborhood, park or playground. Its all taking place at the end of next month.

The newly formed South Temiskaming ATV Club is officially offering trail permits on their website.

Sault City Council will be asked on Monday to introduce a special tax on vacant houses. If approved, the new tax will be implemented in 2025 for 2024 vacancies. Roughly 27,500 properties are currently vacant.
