The City of Greater Sudbury isn’t handing out Blue Box. It’s part of a larger picture… the Ontario government has begun making producers of materials that end up as waste pay to manage that waste.

NOSM University and OPSEU Local 677, Unit 2 in Greater Sudbury have ratified a new collective agreement. The group that represents 161 staff in various fields… say this is their fifth collective agreement.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry – North Bay District is advising the residents in the Lake Nipissing area that a Flood Watch has once again been issued until 4 p.m. Thursday, May 23.

Not everyone was in school yesterday. A grass fire in South Porcupine led to an emergency school closure. It happened just after lunch at St. Joseph School. The school is slated to reopen today.

The City of Elliot Lake says a boil water advisory that has been in effect for a week has been lifted.

It’s the long weekend, and OPP are reminding residents they will be out and about this weekend on the roads, and the water. They are looking for the big 4… aggressive driving, impaired driving, distracted driving… and if you’re on the road, a failure to buckle up.

Sault Police can now call Rogers lines. A phone issue on Thursday made it difficult for Sault Police to contact Rogers wireless customers, but the problem did not impact calls to 911 or the main business line.
