Some Greater Sudbury Police officers will wear body-worn cameras as part of a pilot project beginning in 2025. Members of the city’s police services board received an update this week on the process of implementing the cameras across the entire force.

According to the numbers they spent an average of two hours per month conducting foot patrols downtown from January to March of this year. Eight new wildland fires have been confirmed in Ontario’s northeast fire region since last night, according to Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) – including one in the Timmins fire district. Timmins 19 is a 0.3 hectare wildland fire that is not yet under control. The fire is along Highway 101, about 16 km southeast of Foleyet.
A boil water advisory is in place for 89 – 131 Hillside Dr. N. in Elliot Lake. The town says whenever any kind of repair or construction on the water supply system either planned or an emergency, there is a risk of soil or other contaminants entering the water supply.
