North Bay City police say don’t be alarmed if you see an increased police presence in parts of the city this week. Officials say the Emergency Response Team is training in various locations. They include Memorial Gardens, E.W. Norman School and the Government Dock.
Sault Ste Marie Firefighters were called to an apparent house fire yesterday evening on the 0-100 block of Dennis Street at the corner of Bay Street. There is no word as to the cause. For a time, Police blocked Bay Street at Tancred Street and Dennis Street between Bay Street and Queen Street.

Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon says, originally announced in 2016 at $16.5 million, the project’s latest cost estimate is $22.3 million.

Residents want the city of Sault Ste Mare to keep traffic signals at all three intersections under a pilot project… but city says staff only want to do that at Albert and Elgin and Queen Street at Church. An apparent controversial study that involved turning off traffic signals at three Sault intersections has found most local drivers want all the lights turned back on.
In Elliot Lake, the Hillside Drive boil water advisory has been lifted. All bacteriological samples taken in this area have returned from the laboratory showing no evidence of contamination.
