Greater Sudbury could be looking to sell the Beaver Lake’s fire station… at least that’s on the addenda for the planning committee meeting of city council at their next meeting.

While the total construction value of $81.7 million is down from the $100.6 million reported in 2023, the City of North Bay says it aligns with a decade-long trend of strong construction activity.

NOSM University is again seeking applications from healthcare agencies for its summer studentship program. Businesses and agencies involved in health care can apply for funding to help subsidize the cost of hiring summer students from the medical school.

In the Sault Ste Marie region… down bound traffic on the St. Mary’s River has resumed after a cargo vessel ran aground over the weekend. It happened Sunday after the 497-foot freighter – which was carrying canola seed – experienced a mechanical failure.

Elliot Lake is calling on residents to get their 2025 pet tags before costs go up. That happens Monday, January 16th. Tags are available from city hall and online.

The North Bay Pickleball Club is looking for locks and keys for their new Bourke Park courts at night. They note the city has invested $111,000 into the courts, including a delicate latex and sand surface and it’s wise to keep it secure.

Sault Ste Mari Police says a previously missing man, Matthew Goodmurphy has been located safely and is no longer considered missing. Sault Police thank the community for their assistance.

Tehkummah’s Fire Department has been awarded a $15,000 communications equipment grant. Tehkummah Fire Department’s team of 18 dedicated members responds to an average of 80 calls per year.
