Speed Camera’s in Sudbury issued nearly 13,000 (12,796) tickets last year, and it’s been decided the over $1.3 ($1,344,237) in revenue will be put back into safety. Expanded traffic safety efforts throughout the city will include more flexible bollard traffic-calming program and gateway speed limits.

It will be easier to get to your seat at Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens in North Bay. Senior staff have confirmed railings will be installed in the stands at the North Bay arena. The narrow arena stairs with no railings have been a complaint for many years.

Warmer weather is on the way, and Timmins city crews are getting ready for it. The City sent out a notice this week regarding snow removal and potholes ahead of the expected warm temperatures and rain this week. They are reminding residents it is illegal to push snow from driveways or residential into the roadway, but they can report potholes as needed to service Timmins.

The City of Elliot Lake is calling upon owners of short-term rental properties, including AirBnBs, and the community to contribute their insights and experiences. It’s all part of the newly launched Explore Elliot Lake Tourism Initiative in the form of a survey until the end of the month.

Speaking of feedback, the City of Sault Ste. Marie is taking a closer look at public transit and representatives want input. A Transit Optimization Study will assess the “design and efficiency” of Sault Ste. Marie Transit Services, and is reaching out to area residents.

Some in Sudbury got a phone call yesterday, from Sudbury’s Outpatient Centre on Regent St. A flood overnight Tuesday into Wednesday forced the closure of the centre for the rest of the week. It affects several hundred patients from around Northeastern Ontario.

The North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce is receiving just over $1.1 million to launch the new North Bay and Area Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) program in the region. The five-year project will help attract and retain newcomers to fill employment gaps.

Snowmobiling plans, for some, this weekend might already be washed out. Snow mobile trails in the Timmins region are already planning closures beginning today. They will last until Sunday. The Cochrane-based Polar Bear Riders, the Kapuskasing Sno-rovers are following suit.

The community pool in Elliot Lake, is hiring lifeguards. It’s a new season for the pool and training starts in April 4.

Algoma Steel is planning it’s first arc-produced steel next month. This is after the steel giant reported a fourth-quarter loss from operations of $124.8 million.

A team of international students from Cambrian College took the bronze medal so to speak in their league at the Enactus Central Canada Innovation and Impact Challenge, held in Mississauga last week. Their team, made up of 23 students in total and a team of six competed at the event.

The Bonfield Trade Show is entering its third year. It goes ahead on April 5. The annual event is hosted by the Bonfield Recreation and Fitness Committee, with the aim of supporting and showcasing local Bonfield businesses.

Elections Ontario says they will manually recount all votes in the riding of Mushkegowuk-James Bay in last month’s provincial election. This is after the New Democrats won by a handful of ballots. Eight in total. The riding is a 254,000-square-kilometre riding with a population of around 25,000.

Firefighters in Sault Ste Marie have rescued a dog from house fires. Crews responded to the 500 block of Placid Avenue at around 4:30 p.m. yesterday. It’s believed the fire started in the kitchen.
