
The City of Greater Sudbury is reviewing its parking standards in a bid to build more residential units. The goal of council is to have more housing units, and part of that is parking. The hope is to have a decision by the end of June.
Meanwhile the city of North Bay is reminding residents, despite the recent flurry activity… the overnight parking ban has now been lifted for the season. Overnight street parking is once again permitted until Nov. 1st.
Work is starting on how to replace the deteriorating Finn Road bridge in the east end of Timmins. This is after a contract was awarded for just over $725k ($725,207) contact for the design and contract administration work.
Saultites on both sides of the international are being invited to participate in the 2025 City Nature Challenge. It’s a global competition to gather observations about local plants and wildlife happening between April 25th and 28th. Participants will need to download an app and then take pictures of wild plants and animals and record sounds.

A change of leadership at the Sudbury Food Bank. Dan Xilon, who has been the executive director for the past 23 years, is retiring in December. His replacement is Mell Dahl an existing volunteer with the foodbank.
The North Bay Police Service is advising the public of a training exercise. It will take place in the area of the wastewater treatment plant, on Memorial Drive. It will involve six provincial Hazardous Materials (Haz Mat) teams, the North Bay Fire and Emergency Services, and the Ontario Fire Marshalls Office. Once again, it’s all a drill.
Reports indicate the Leaders’ Debate Commission says it has rescinded its invitation to the Green Party to participate in the two federal leaders’ debates scheduled for today. The commission says because the party intentionally reduced its number of candidates running in the federal election, it “no longer meets the intention of the participation criteria.”

While the town of Mattawa has not banned fireworks council has officially banned the sale of fireworks within the municipality. They may be purchased elsewhere, and the decision comes after years of strict regulation.

Sault Ste. Marie now has its own Kiwanis Park, recognizing the work from its foundation. Other Kiwanis entities and community partners have worked to revitalize what used to be known as Rosedale Park. The name change was already been approved.
