As work begins on a major transformation of Tom Davies Square, city council meetings in Greater Sudbury are moving to Azilda. Slated to be there for the next couple of years. They will be there along with Provincial Offences Court. Council is expected to meet at the Lionel E. Lalonde Centre.
A West Ferris garage fire has resulted in significant fire damage. It happened late yesterday. The fire, which occurred in a garage attached to a residence on Farley Avenue in West Ferris was called in at around 5:15 p.m. and fire crews say they had it under control in less than 20 minutes.
Hundreds of science and engineering students from rocket clubs across Canada descended on Timmins this year for the third time for the Launch Canada Challenge.
The only one of its kind in Canada, the event tests the viability of student-built rockets with launches above Mattagami First Nation.
The City of Sault Ste. Marie is receiving more than $2.5 million through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. All to support the revitalization of the downtown district, Northern Economic Development and Growth Minister George Pirie made the announcement yesterday at the Downtown Plaza.
