The emergency department in Thessalon reopened earlier than expected. The ER shut down at 8 a.m. today due to a shortage of physicians. The closure was planned for 24 hours, however, the North Shore Health Network now says it has been able to secure a physician.

The Speed limit on Lakeshore Drive in North Bay will be reduced… to 50 km/h starting tomorrow. All previously designated areas with a speed limit of 60 km/h along Lakeshore Drive will be lowered by ten kilometers per hour.

Sault Ste Marie has a news chair for the city’s new downtown development committee. Sophia Stone is a fourth-generation member of a well-known local business family, chosen Monday to lead the new city committee that’s taking over responsibility for the Queen Street commercial area.
Elliot Lake council has given the green light for repairs to begin on Swimming Pool in Elliot Lake. At a special meeting at the end of last month, council approved proceeding with the necessary repair work to support a safe and efficient reopening of the facility with a preliminary budget of $500,000.
Elliot Lake will be looking at ways to improve airport operations and increase revenue opportunities at the facility. Council approved the hiring of Explorer Solutions at a cost of $7,900 to conduct an Airport Operations and Opportunities Assessment. Money for the project will come from the economic development reserve.
