In Sudbury, Volunteer marshals are needed for this weekend’s parade. It returns Saturday at 5 p.m. with a new, larger route downtown.

North Bay residents could see higher water and wastewater rates in 2026. If approved at the city council level, for many residents, an increase may mean an extra $3.58 to $4.18 per month, or $60 to $70 per year.

The first draft of the 2026 Timmins’ city budget is ready. Council is meeting tonight for a budget meeting. The proposed net increase for 2026 is 4.96 per cent. It includes a $1.5 million increase in the operating budget.

Sault Ste Marie city council wants to hear from taxpayers on where they want to see how next years dollars will be spent. Residents have until Nov. 28 to provide feedback to city council and staff on funding priorities.  Council will deliberate the budget on Dec. 8.

Solutions are being sought for an encampment in central Sudbury surrounding the city’s only 24-hour warming centre. It has 56 according to city staff. Homeless advocates have been on the ground to provide aid.

OPP North East are now equipped with body-worn cameras. The rollout is part of a broader adoption of the technology across the Region. The cameras are worn on the front of an officer’s vest and are clearly visible.
