Greater Sudbury no longer has an auditor general. The city quietly closed the auditor’s office Dec. 31, laying off it’s Auditor General Ron Foster. The city says the decision was made during budget deliberations.

The New Hospital parking rate increase has kicked in. The one-time exit pass has increased by $1.25 to $7.25. Announced just ahead of the new year, other parking options include a Day Pass for $10, a 7-day pass for $30.

With a new budget process, the mayor is now deciding how to deal with proposed amendments. Michelle Boileau presented her strong mayor budget on in December and has until Jan. 12 to either veto or accept council amendments.

Those interested in being a volunteer firefighter in Cochrane or have questions are invited to a meet-and-greet. It is scheduled for 10:00am until 2:00pm on Saturday. A chance to meet firefighters and get a personal tour.

Sault Area Hospital says while they’re available to help if needed “extremely” high patient volumes are forcing some patients to be moved around… and alternative care is being encouraged for nonurgent cases.

The Municipality of Huron Shores is inviting residents to attend a Community Development Advisory Committee meeting. It is scheduled for January 8th. The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom beginning at 7 p.m.

The town of Cobalt has joined call for safer, cost-effective Highway 11 expansion. The Township joins a growing coalition of Northern Ontario municipalities advocating for a major upgrade to Highway 11 for drivers.

The city is reminding drivers to stop for pedestrians at crosswalks. There are currently 50 pedestrian crossovers in Greater Sudbury, and they are reminding drivers to stop.

Timmins Police are looking for a 33-year-old woman who has been reported missing. Emilie is Caucasian, 5’5”, 155lbs, and a medium build with black hair and green eyes.

The city is digging out after massive dumping of snow. With around 100 cm in just over a week, snow has built up in parking lots, and drivers are being asked for patience.
