It’s going to be easier to get around without the use of a car. This week the operations committee approved two resolutions designating parts of Notre Dame Avenue, as cycling facilities while designating a short stretch of Paris Street, as a multi-use path.

Bondfield Township says they will spend 2026 celebrating its volunteer firefighters with the Volunteer Firefighter of the Month program.  Some on town council say they are the cornerstone of public safety in the community, and it’s a well deserved recognition.

Timmins police are looking for a missing 34-year-old woman. Samantha five-foot-seven, 190 pounds, Indigenous, with brown hair, brown eyes and a medium build. She may be driving a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Ontario plate # DDTP 556.

Huron Shores will outlines key zoning changes in an upcoming online meeting. It’s all part of efforts to modernize its planning framework and revisions will be presented to residents.  The Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw Review will be Thursday at 7pm online.

There were thankful no injuries after school bus ends up sliding around sideways yesterday in the soo, just before 5pm. It happened on Lake Street. Ice is the suspected culprit.  The Algoma & Huron-Superior Transportation Services, and police were contacted.

The district of Temiskaming Social Services say they have received $30,000 in much needed funds. It’s all to cover the cost of the Warrior Health Program for its paramedics.  The program is geared to enhance the Mental Health for Ontario’s Public Safety Personnel and their Families.

Greater Sudbury looks to build two more supportive housing projects. One would be located on Bruce Avenue. That said it’s all contingent on whether the city of Sudbury can obtain funding from a federal government housing program.

The North Bay Snowmobile Club say 90 per cent of local trails in the areas of North Bay, West Nipissing, Marten River, Mattawa, Bonfield and South Shore are now open. Area lakes are now all staked except the south shore of Lake Nipissing.

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 16-year-old girl. Nevaeh is female, white, five-two, 130 pounds, with a thin build. She has brown eyes and brown hair. Wearing a pink hoodie, black and white leggings wearing a black polka dot backpack.

The invitation is sent out to residents by the Economic Development Department for their quarterly town hall. The event is being held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28. This session will focus activities from 2025 and a look ahead to 2026.

A sauna fire has prompted reminder from the fire department. It happened last night on Laronde Avenue. While it’s okay to have a sauna, residents must regularly maintain fuel-burning appliances and chimneys – including those within a sauna.

The city of Temiskaming shores is continuing to direct residents to their website should they have any questions on public transit. They also have access to Ontario Northland and taxi services. This is all as a regional transit plan continues to gain speed.
