Laurentian University and the union representing its faculty members, are back at the bargaining table. According to a media release, negotiations will be supported by a mediator as both parties continue to work towards a new collective agreement. Strike action has been going since January 19th.

The Province says testing is underway and station upgrades are moving ahead for the Ontario Northland train, but the exact launch date and ticket prices are yet to be announced. The Northlander, cancelled in 2012, is set to connect 16 communities from Toronto to Timmins, with a rail link to Cochrane.

A power outage impacted a section of Sault Ste. Marie yesterday, but the power has since been restored. Just over 900 (906) were without electricity in an area that includes Third Line East between Peoples Road and Great Northern Road. Drivers and residents in the area are thanked for their patience.
