Laurentian University has announced it is suspending intake to four programs. This follows issues brought forward by the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance. The four programs effected are criminal justice, criminology, interdisciplinary studies and equity, diversity and human rights.
While February is behind us, figures associated with job postings in Nipissing were showing a rebound in January. That from the Labour Market Group, which says there were 542 job postings recorded that month. Officials say it’s a significant month-over-month increase of nearly 59% compared to December.
The Mining Association of Canada (MAC) is seeking a new president and CEO. Late last month, the national association that represents the interests of Canada’s mining sector made the announced that the search is on. The end goal is to replace Pierre Gratton, who has been in the role since June 2011.

The Sault Ste. Marie Regional Fire Training Centre wraps up several days of training today at the Pine Street Marina. The training also included classroom over the last four days. Today an intensive course focused on rescuing people who fall through the ice as the season continues to warm into Mid-March.
