15-year-old is missing, Hunter Rickard

Greater Sudbury Police are seeking public help to locate a missing teen. Gone now a week, the search is on for 15-year-old Hunter Rickard. Police took to social media describing Hunter as being 6-foot-1 in height. He weighs 240 pounds and was last seen wearing black pants, grey coat and running shoes.
 

North Bay defending their decision to ban “fake snow”

The city of North Bay is defending their decision to ban foam commonly used by the film and T.V. industry to make simulated snow, due to what they are environmental issues. In a release, the city says no film permits have been withdrawn as a result of the decision. They also say that there’s no indication from the industry that the decision could impact planned projects.
 

Fire displaces family in Timmins

A fire has displaced one family. It happened in Timmins early this morning. Reports indicate that the fire broke out at around 3:00am… Firefighters from Timmins and Schumacher responded to the call finding there was heavy smoke throughout the main floor and the upstairs area of the building. There is no report of any injuries.
 

Three people arrested following break in, assault

Three people have been arrested. It happened in Sault Ste. Marie following an incident over the weekend where 3 men –one in their 20’s and two in their 30’s – entered a residence of a person known to them in the 100 block of South Market Street. The males took various items while threatening the people inside. Police arrived a short time later and all three males were taken into custody.
 

Appeals Tribunal looks at KED today

A case management conference begins today in Sudbury. It’s the first time the Local Planning Appeals Tribunal will address the objections to the plan to build the Kingsway Entertainment District. The city of Greater Sudbury says however it’s confident that is has conformed to planning laws ahead of the initial stages of construction.
 

Robbery at Sudbury convenience store

A convenience store robbery is under investigation. Greater Sudbury Police say it happened yesterday morning at the Petro Canada located at the intersection of Lorne and Douglas streets. They say just after 6:00am a man entered the gas station, wearing a mask and brandishing a knife. He fled on foot with money and cigarettes. The suspect is described as being between 5-10 and 6-0 tall, with a thin build, and wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and white shoes.
