Sudbury still in line for long-term care beds
Some Greater Sudbury are asking about Longterm Care. The Government of Ontario announced 16 additional long-term care projects that will add 1,157 new LTC beds. Sudbury however, isn’t on the list. While Sault Ste Marie is getting beds, Sudbury is still in line for 54 promised by the previous Liberal government.
Evacuation plans underway
As the snow goes down, the floods will come up in some communities. The increasingly milder spring temperatures and inevitable rising waters of the Albany River have leaders in Kashechewan already making preparations from the impending threat from flooding. Evacuation orders, sending 700 to Timmins this year will be given before May.

Fire at a Sault Ste. Marie Hotel
Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to a fire, at the Quattro Hotel & Conference Centre last night. Personnel were still on scene at around 11:00 pm working to clear the scene. Details were few but there were reports of some guests being evacuated and that the fire was contained to one room.
Input is sought for Twin Pad Project
The City of Greater Sudbury is seeking input on another construction project. A new multipurpose, sports complex that would include a twin-pad arena on municipal property in Hanmer. It would be located next to the Howard Armstrong Recreation Centre. This project has been accepted in concept by city council for further study.
Teen Charged in Hit-and-Run
Ontario Provincial Police in North Bay is looking to speak witnesses to a hit and run. Constable Shona Camirand says it happened Monday night, just before 9:00pm
Since then a 17-year-old has been located and charged.
Doulas Shortage in Greater Sudbury
Sudbury is now one of a number of communities, reporting a doulas shortage. Doulas provides support to women during pregnancy and the birthing process. At last report there were only a handful in Sudbury, with less than 15 in Northern Ontario. In Sudbury, less than 5% of the 1,800 births are attended by doulas.

Timmins man arrested for selling stolen items online.
A Timmins man has been arrested over selling items over social media. The issue was the items were allegedly stolen from a Timmins retailer. A number of items were tied to a break and enter which had occurred earlier in the month.
