North Bay City Councilor Mike Anthony passes away at 52
The city of North Bay is in shock this morning, over the passing of a well-known city councillor. Councillor Mike Anthony, a veteran of municipal politics and radio… died yesterday at home around 5 p.m. Mike was the longest-serving sitting councillor in North Bay, elected for the first time in 2001. Mike Anthony was 52.
Masks will be mandatory for the Rainbow district school board
Masks are the topic of conversation for many Greater Sudbury families, heading back to school. Rainbow District School Board trustees have voted unanimously this week to make masks mandatory for students in primary grades. With reasonable exceptions, all students in Rainbow Schools in Grades 1 to 12 will be required to wear non-medical or cloth masks indoors in school, including in hallways and during classes. Kindergarten students will be required to wear masks and/or face shields in indoor spaces.
One new fire in the North East Region
As of late Wednesday afternoon, one new forest fire was confirmed in the northeast region. Kirkland Lake 13, which is approximately eight kilometres southeast of Matachewan, is under control at 0.7 of a hectare.
PUC reports power outage in Sault Ste Marie (UPDATE: Restored)
The power is back on for nearly a thousand PUC customers. The lights were knocked out in the area of the third line at around 5:00 pm. In a release, the PUC said the cause of the outage isn’t known at this point. Those without power should contact the PUC.

A vehicle stolen has been recovered by OPP. Taken from Thessalon last Monday was has been found near Chapleau. Investigating officers say the automobile on Highway 101 about 20 kilometres west of the community. A 34-year-old woman from Ingersoll is facing charges.
MSS ready for the fall semester
And renovations to Manitoulin Secondary School are done and are ready to welcome students back. Both extensive interior designs and upgrades have been done to the library, cafeteria, and welcome area. MSS celebrates 50-years this year.
