For the first time this fall, no bus cancellations in Greater Sudbury

The Sudbury Student Services Consortium says for the first time all school year, there are no cancelled school bus routes. At the beginning of the school year, 25 school bus routes were cancelled due to a shortage of bus drivers.
 

A number of new cases of COVID-19 in the North East

Among the case counts of COVID-19 this weekend, another case of COVID-19 was confirmed in the Algoma District. The health unit says the person with COVID-19 was a close contact of another person who tested positive. Ontario reported 1,042 new COVID-19 cases yesterday. There were also new cases this weekend announced by the Porcupine Health Unit, along with Public Sudbury and Districts.
 

North Bay city council expected to vote on contract

North Bay council is expected to vote this week on a contract to rehabilitate of a portion of Trout Lake Road. The project worth $3.5 million involves the rehabilitation of 1.6 kilometers from Mountainview Drive to Lees Road aiming to address significant icing and flooding issues during the winter spring. Bikes lanes would also be included.
 

Police are seeking suspect in firearm theft

OPP out of Iroquois Falls are looking for those responsible to a reported fire arm theft. Constable Michelle Simard says an unknown person took a .22 caliber Savage Axis rifle with a custom laminated Boyds Stock and a Simons Predator scope from a vehicle. There is no indication of any threat to public safety, but Police are looking for information.
 

LED streetlight conservation pulls in $30k in savings

The LED streetlight conversion project in Powassan is bringing in savings. After trading all 242 streetlights for the more energy-efficient lights, the municipality says they’ve saved $30,000 with an energy conservation rate of 66%.
 

Missing Teen: 19-year-old Kanina Manchester

The Timmins Police Service is seeking a missing person. 19 year old Kanina Manchester was last seen October 22, 2020 in Timmins. She is described as a Indigenous female, 5’7 tall, with brown eyes, long brown hair and a medium complexion.

Two in Hospital following a single MVC

Two people are in hospital following a single-motor vehicle collision on Manitoulin Island. It happened just before 7:30 p.m. yesterday on Highway 6 near Townline Road in the Township of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands. The Sudbury-Manitoulin EMS and local Fire personnel responded.
 

Four way stop looked into in Trout Creek

The intersection of Hemlock Road and Hummel Line in Trout Creek might soon see a four-way stop. This is following a request from residents over concerns regarding driver speed. The intersection currently has stop signs on Hummel Line.
