Greater Sudbury School closed for the day due to COVID-19 outbreak
A COVID-19 outbreak has declared at École St-Denis school in Greater Sudbury, has resulted in the school being closed for the day. The outbreak was announced by Public Health Sudbury and Districts and the decision was made in order to ensure the safety of students and staff. The school will be closed TODAY (Monday, January 18). Families will receive a communication from the school team later today. The daycare located at the school will also be closed today.
APH alerts parents and guardians to a single COVID-19 case
Algoma District School Board have alerted parents and guardians that ‘an individual associated with’ R.M. Moore Public School has tested positive for COVID-19. The board says APH has identified close contacts and they have been notified.
Over $900k in gas tax funding coming to North Bay
The Province is supporting what it calls local economic recovery efforts. It’s all through by investing just over $912,500 in the City of North Bay’s public transit. The funding has been made possible through Ontario’s Gas Tax program.
Timmins Police looking for 14-year-old Bianca Swinimer
And Timmins Police Service is seeking a missing teen. 14-year-old is Bianca Swinimer is described as a Caucasian female person, 5’1” tall – thin build, weighing approximately 110lbs, hair is black and pink in colour
She has not been seen or been in contact with family members since Saturday Jan. 16. When last seen she was wearing a black coat, black toque, black boots and beige pants.
Decrease in Snow depths – NBMCA
Wild weather has given way to a decrease in in some snow depths. By 1.7 cm. That’s according to the latest measurements from the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority. Snow is measured for depth and water equivalence at three locations in the watershed.
Some sledding trails now open in Timmins area
For the first time this season, some trails are open for sledders in Timmins. In Timmins and Iroquois Falls the trails that can be accessed are listed. While there are green trails with full access in the Cochrane and Kapuskasing areas, valid trail permits are needed to access open trails, and an interactive map showing the status of OFSC trails is now on their website.
