13 cases of COVID-19 in Greater Sudbury among the total case count

Public Health Sudbury and Districts says among the COVID-19 numbers today, 13 were new cases were reported in Greater Sudbury, one was on Manitoulin Island.
The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting two COVID-19 cases among residents within its catchment area. One case is in the Hearst, Hornepayne area, and one is in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls, and Smooth Rock Falls.
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 for the second day in a row. There are now just three active cases of the virus in the region. The two hospitalizations from earlier in the week are now resolved.
In Greater Sudbury,
St. David Catholic Elementary School in Greater Sudbury dismissed students today, due to “potential widespread COVID-19 infection among the school community.” As noted by the Health Unit, as of this afternoon 13 confirmed cases had been associated with an outbreak at the school. All students, staff, and essential visitors who attend St. David School are advised to self-isolate and to contact a COVID-19 assessment centre to make arrangements to get tested.
Elsewhere,
A number of Students from Lansdowne Public School in Greater Sudbury are required to self-isolate up to and including Jan. 29th. It’s all due to a possible exposure to COVID-19 in relation to two shared bus routes but not related to the school. The school board said there is no confirmed case of COVID-19 as Lansdowne Public School at this time, and the school remains open for in-person learning.
