One grade 9 class isolating following a positive case of COVID-19 at Franco-Cité.
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has confirmed on e new case of COVID-19. It’s within the school community of École Secondaire Catholique Franco-Cité. As a result, the health unit has dismissed a Grade 9 cohort to self-isolate and be tested.
1 new case of COVID-19 linked to LTC outbreak
Meanwhile, the Porcupine Health Unit is reporting one new COVID-19 case of the Corona Virus. It is linked to the outbreak at Extendicare Kapuskasing. The person is in self-isolation, according to the health unit.
New COVID numbers include cases in Kirkland Lake, Central and East Algoma
Elsewhere the Timiskaming Health Unit is reporting one new COVID-19 case. According to the health unit, the exposure is due to international travel. The person is in the north part of the region, which is the Kirkland Lake area, and self-isolating.
Elsewhere,
Two more Algoma District residents have tested positive for COVID-19. Both, from Central & East Algoma, caught the virus from close contact. All are self-isolating, Algoma Public Health reported Tuesday.
Low-risk exposure linked to Blind River Tim Hortons
A Covid-19 exposure warning has gone out from APH of a low risk exposure. They’re is advising anyone who visited Tim Hortons in Blind River, located at 43 Causley St., either through walk-in or drive-thru on Saturday or Sunday from 4 a.m. to 12 noon or yesterday from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. to selfmonitor for sypomtoms.
Voluntary testing continuing at a number of Schools
The Province of Ontario says voluntary testing for asymptomatic COVID-19 cases in schools has resumed. While Public Health Sudbury and Districts has not been given any directives for local schools yet overall, a pilot project is continuing where there are outbreaks. In all, three Catholic schools are involved…at Marymount Academy, St Charles College and Pius XII. The goal here is to identify any undetected COVID infections among schools that are already in outbreak.
$250k heading to purposed mining lab
Sudbury’s Cambrian College is going deeper when it comes to underground battery technology in the mining industry. This is all thanks to a 250k boost from the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation. It’s for the post secondary schools development of its proposed $2.8 million dollar, 5,600 square foot Industrial battery electric vehicle lab.
