Health Unit warns of a number exposure risks due to COVID-19

Public Health Sudbury and Districts yesterday reported 14 new cases of COVID-19 and 16 recoveries. More over there were 0 cases that tested positive for a variant of concern. Public Health Ontario has reported 4,250 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. There were also 3,338 recoveries.
Public Health Sudbury & Districts is advising the public of a potential high-risk of exposure to COVID-19. It’s for anyone who attended they Wacky Wings restaurant on Shaughnessy St. on April 11 between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Those who were there should self isolate and get a COVID-19 test.
The health unit is also advising the public of a potential low-risk exposure to COVID-19. It’s for passengers who take the GOVA bus Route 1 Main Line between 8:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. The date in question is Wednesday, April 7. The bus (#763) departed from and returned to the Downtown Transit Hub at 9 Elm St.
 

Three outbreaks reported by the PHU

The Porcupine Health Unit has declared two school community COVID-19 outbreaks.
One is in Timmins at Pope Francis Elementary School and the second is at Iroquois Falls Public School. The outbreak at Pope Francis is related to transmission of COVID-19 on school transportation and the outbreak at Iroquois Falls Public School has been declared because there are two confirmed COVID-19 cases in the school which are linked to an exposure at school. The people are in self-isolation.
An outbreak of the virus has also been declared at McEwan Mining – Black Fox Mine. There have been three cases at the mine that are linked to the workplace, according to the health unit. One previously reported case in Timmins is also a variant of concern. The health unit expects it is the UK (B.1.1.7) strain.
 

5 new cases of COVID-19 reported by APH

Algoma Public Health is reporting five new cases of COVID-19. All reported Sunday afternoon, all from Sault Ste. Marie and area. All caught the virus from close contact, and are self-isolating.
 

Two house fires called “Suspicious” by Police

Two house fires in Sault Ste Marie been called suspicious by Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. In the first, Firefighters responded to blazes at 340 Albert St. W., on Friday and 293 North St., on Saturday. There is no word as to the total damage done.
 

New funding coming to Eastholm

The government is investing over $5.3M in one-time combined federal-provincial infuse for Eastholm for the aged. The funding is going to improve and make upgrades to the facility in Powassan. It was announced by Vic Fedeli’s office.
 

5-rings stolen from Goulais River Township

OPP are investigating a theft out of Goulais River Township. Five rings valued at $10,000, including a pair of wedding rings, were taken from a residence. It happened April 4th. A full description of the rings:
A gold band with six diamond stones, a gold ring with a diamond in the middle and two smaller stones on either side, a wedding band engraved with May 20, 1959, an engagement ring with a diamond in the centre, diamonds around the band and four diamonds that stick out like pointers at the band’s bottom were stolen.
