Sudbury no longer persuing a single location for emergency services

The City of Greater Sudbury is abandoning the consideration of having one space for all three of its emergency services. City staff had been directed by council to study whether a shared headquarters was viable, but that work was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has now been called off.
 

No injuries following a spill of bricks

Thankfully, no one was injured after a trailer carrying bricks lost its load Thursday afternoon. It happened along the Lasalle Extension. It happened between Frood Road and College Boreal. Traffic was backing up for a time, as officials work to clear the area.
 

Grace United church continues to rebuild

Grace United Church continues to rebuild. This week, they reached a notable mark in installing roof trusses, and soon, the exterior cladding will be applied to the framing. This is after a Fire destroyed the Bancroft Drive church almost two years ago.
 

#9PMRoutine looking to become the norm

A new routine is coming to North Bay. Or at least, that’s the hope from the city Police. They’re using social medial as a way to remind residents to lock up their valuables. #9PMRoutine was created by Pasco County Sheriff’s Office in Florida and has now been picked up by North Bay Police, reminding everyone to take a moment at the 9’oclock hour to secure their property and vehicles.
 

Power outage planned for tomorrow morning

Hydro One is advising of a planned power outage. It’s for tomorrow morning in the Municipality of Powassan, affecting 7,000 customers in Powassan, Nippissing, Trout Creek, and East Ferris. It’s planned for between 6:30 am and 12:30 pm. It’s for safely to perform scheduled maintenance and complete upgrades in the area.
 

Sault Ste Marie Firefighters stamp out a brush fire

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to a brush fire yesterday in the 100 block of Broadview Drive. The call came in shortly before 11:30 a.m. near the corner of Atwater Street. Three trucks responded to the scene. There were no injuries and no word as to the cause.
