Crews still working to restore power from the storm

Hydro One crews in Greater Sudbury continue to work to restore power, following the heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms that moved across the province. Most communities had a tornado watch. At one point in Greater Sudbury, the utility’s outage map shows that an outage affecting nearly 8,000 customers extends all the way from the Walden to the Valley areas.
 

Co2 Alarm in Powassan, all residents safe

Residents of a Powassan home are safe, after they found their carbon monoxide alarm blaring upon returning home. Reports say they had been canning food with the use of their gas-powered stove. They had then left to run errands in the afternoon. They did call the fire department, the house was cleared and there were no injuries.
 

New Timmins Chamber President takes over

The Timmins Chamber of Commerce has a new president. Rob Knox took the seat just before the weekend. He takes over from outgoing president Melanie Verreault.
 

Another possible COVID-19 exposure from Air Canada flights

Algoma Public Health is warning of potential exposure to the virus on two recent Air Canada flights. It is for passengers in rows six to 12 of Flight AC 8323 from Toronto to the Sault last Thursday. Also at risk are passengers in rows 27 to 35, and the crew who served them, on Flight AC 134 from Calgary to Toronto. That flight was also last Thursday.
 

Missing teen found safe

Timmins Police say a missing teen has been found. 13-year-old Hannah Rouleau, had been the subject of a “missing person” report. She had been missing since the 27th. While there is no further information on the case, Police are thankful for assistance from the public.
