Potential exposure to COVID-19 reported on two Air Canada flights
Algoma Public Health is reporting a potential exposure on two Sept. 6 flights, one of which landed in the Sault. Air Canada 8323 from Toronto to Sault Ste. Marie. Passengers who sat in rows 10-17 and flight crew who served these rows should contact their local public health unit for further information. The other, Delta 5458 from Detroit to Toronto. Passengers who sat in rows 5-12 and flight crew who served these rows should contact their local public health unit for further information.
Copper Street “Smash and Grab” breakins investigated
Greater Sudbury Police are investigating multiple cases of theft. It happened Monday night on Copper Street in the parking lot of a seniors building. Roughly half-dozen vehicles in the parking lot had been broken into, or windows smashed. A number of items, the details of which, have not been released.

The motion, approved this week, directs staff to explore options for the implementation for a workplace policy with respect to COVID-19 vaccinations and testing for staff. A report back is expected by Sept. 30.
Timmins Hospital implementing COVID-19 vaccination policy for staff
Timmins’ hospital is implementing a strict COVID-19 vaccination policy for staff. This follows a directive from the Province last month to have a vaccine policy in place. Timmins and District Hospital’s policy requires all staff, physicians, contractors, students and volunteers working on-site to be fully vaccinated or provide a medical reason for not being vaccinated. People who are not fully vaccinated and don’t have a medical exemption by Oct. 29 “will be placed on an unpaid leave of absence”

Greater Sudbury Police has issued an arrest warrant for a suspect believed to be tied to the incident on Lasalle Boulevard on Sept. 7, where one person succumbed to injury. A 32-year-old is now being sought.
Wallace Road reopened one lane in North Bay
North Bay drivers are being given one lane of Wallace Road, now reopened between Lake Heights Road and Commerce Court. That said, until late October temporary traffic lights will be set up to Marshal traffic. This as crews continue to install a new sewage pumping station and sanitary sewer in the area.
Teen speeder stopped on Highway 11, arrested
A teen speeder has been pulled off the road. This is after OPP spotted a speeding motor vehicle on Highway 11, west of Cochrane. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver. As a result of the investigation, a 16-years-old driver is was taken into custody on a slew of charges.

Fire Safety is once again getting a nod, as post-secondary school students settle in. Sherry Korn is the Prevention Officer at North Bay Fire & Emergency Services and says it starts with keeping a clean room.
