There are now 10 wildland fires in the Northeast Region with three new ones identified yesterday as of news time, all in the Greater Sudbury region. Among them is Sudbury 7, 0.2-hectares in size is 15 kilometres southwest of Windy Lake Provincial Park. It is currently not under control but an aerial suppression team has responded.

Talk of the new twin pad arena in North Bay continues. Negotiations for a guaranteed maximum price is the next step, followed by the completion of design documents including drawings and specifications. Once complete a finalized design and price will be presented to council for approval.

Timmins Symphony Orchestra musical director Josh Wood is taking a bow. He’s been with the Timmins organization for 8 years, and now is taking on full-time duties as director of the North Bay Symphony.

Sault Ste Marie City firefighters have launched their annual in-service smoke and CO annual alarm program. Firefighters will be going door-to-door in neighbourhoods throughout the city spreading awareness about fire safety and testing alarms.
