The power in Greater Sudbury is back on following an outage in Capreol. It’s believed a large tree contacting a hydro line was the likely cause. Those without power this morning should contact GSH.

Meanwhile, thousands of people in Timmins were without hydro after a severe thunderstorm moved through yesterday. It impacting thousands of customers across the city from Mountjoy to Connaught.

Greater Sudbury is seeking feedback on next phase of playground revitalization. They’re scheduled to renew the Central Lake Skate Parkand Don Lita Playground this year.

Dozens of Ontario’s top young archers will be in the Sault this weekend as the city hosts this year’s provincial archery championship.

Homeownership in Greater Sudbury, is on the decline. In 2011, 68.4 per cent of Greater Sudburians lived in owner-occupied homes, according to Statistics Canada data. The latest numbers suggest that is now at 66.5 per cent.

North Bay is backing a plan to kick-start an auxiliary police program next year. Police chief Darryl Longworth announced a plan during a presentation of the police service’s challenges and successes at the latest meeting of city council.

A new wildfire made a brief appearance yesterday … Kirkland Lake 3 (KLK003) was a 0.1 hectare fire that was confirmed early Thursday afternoon and has already been called out. This fire was located east of Englehart.

PUC is reporting that s power outage that knocked out the lights in the east end of the city is impacting more than 3,000 customers has been blamed on wildlife. Those without power should contact the PUC.
