The Greater Sudbury Police Service are reminding residents to keep personal information, personal. This is following an increase in reports of online fraud. In short they say never give out personal information over the phone, internet or other means.

West Nipissing will, soon enough, be in need of a Ward 6 in councilor. This after the resignation of Anne Tessier, effective this week. The municipality says she penned a letter to her fellow members of Council, indicating she and her family are relocating for another opportunity, and she will no longer be a resident or property owner in the community.

Sault Ste. Marie is continuing to create new residential units to accommodate its growth. To date this year, more than 454 residential building permits have been issued, with construction values totaling $71.5 million.

This week, the Mattagami Bridge pedestrian underpass is closed for repairs. Repairs are expected to take around two weeks to complete as the path is graded and repaved.

Sudbury’s Flour Mill community farm is back and will remain operational until Thanksgiving… if all things remain equal. An annual “pay what you can” pay what you can initiative supporting youth and offering affordable, fresh produce to the community is now in its 8th year.

A program is now in place to help keep Sault Ste. Marie clean. Council approved, guidelines allow a community organization, businesses, service clubs and other groups Adopt-A-City Property to keep the Soo clean.
Town of Gore Bay says proposed downtown revitalization plans will now go ahead with a funding envelope of $2.5 million in Provincial Funding having been provided to the town.

To the Forest Fire situation in the North East… Aviation Forest Fire and Emergency Services says four fires burn. One of them is northwest of Elliot Lake. The one-hectare fire on the northern shore of Duval Lake is being held.

Should weather and water supply conditions remain average, Lake Superior could rise by approximately 2 cm in August. That would come after the lake ended the month of July down by 2 cm due to drier-than-average water supply conditions.
