A major winter storm bringing up to 60 cm of snow is expected to continue all day Wednesday, Environment Canada said in an updated winter storm warning. The heavy snow has closed Highway 11 in both directions between Kapuskasing and Cochrane. In addition, much of Highway 655 between Driftwood and Timmins is closed. Highway 631 from Highway 11 to White River is also closed because of the weather. Current road conditions can be found at Ontario 511.
The cause of Sunday Night’s Cedar Heights Rd. fire in North Bay will remain undetermined. Crews were greeted by heavy smoke on the first floor, and a well-established fire in the basement area of the residence. He says the sole occupant was safely removed and with extra combustibles in the basement area.

Five buildings needed to be re-secured to prevent unlawful entry. Officials say the initiative ensures boarded-up vacant properties remain inaccessible.
