Downtown snow removal is underway in downtown Sudbury. It’s in the overnight hours until the 30th, going from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. daily and patience is appreciated.

Snow depth is listed above average in North Bay. The conservation authority says it’s right on schedule for Chisholm and Corbeil. 9.7 cm is the latest increase taken this year.

The extreme cold weather alerts no surprise. The overnight temperature is forecast to drop to -38 C, including the windchill.  The move opens several resources.

The city gave a nod to local business at Collins Hall on Saturday. More than three dozen local businesses and service providers were at the Elliot Lake Business Showcase.

Discovery Porcupine says due to expansion, they’ve given notice to residents at Fairway Village on Moneta Avenue, they’ll need move. It is being converting to non-residential space by the end of the month. Aid is being given for the move.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie is calling the overnight snow a significant weather event. That said it does not mark as reduced level of service or road closures. Rather, it serves to advise the public that caution, and patience is required when travelling.

The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities is in Toronto this week for the ROMA Conference. On the agenda? The federation is calling on the province to support the modernization both, including four-lining, twinning, and 2+1 safety designs.
