New cases of COVID-19 in three Health Units

SUDBURY and AREA: Public Health Sudbury and Districts is reporting 10 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death. As of news time today, there are 316 active cases being monitored, a drop from the 344 active cases reported on Tuesday. Ontario health officials reported more than 2,300 once again with 2,333.
 

NORTH BAY and area:  The North Bay Parry Sound district Health unit is reporting 3 new cases,  all in the Nipissing district. Total count is now 293. The mass vaccination clinic is running all weekend (Friday thru Monday).

 
TIMMINS and area:  The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting four new COVID-19 cases and an outbreak at Extendicare Timmins.  Thus far there has only been one case reported at the Long Term Care. Three of the new cases are in Timmins. One is related to the outbreak, and the exposure of two is under investigation, according to the health unit.  There is also one case in the area of Kapuskasing, Opasatika, Val Rita-Harty, Moonbeam, and Fauquier-Strickland.
 
SAULT STE MARIE and area:  Algoma Public Health says there is evidence of variants of concern (VOCs) in three recent cases of COVID-19 in Algoma residents. Of the three that screened positive for VOCs, two specimens were from Sault Ste. Marie and area, and one specimen was from Elliot Lake and area.
