Walk-in Vaccinations are now available at clinics

Public Health Sudbury and districts say residents in their region will be able to receive a COVID-19 vaccination without an appointment. This is as walk-in clinics open across the region today. No new cases of COVID-19 were added yesterday. Anyone who is eligible to receive their first or second dose of vaccine will be welcome to attend these walk-in clinics.
Other health unit areas are doing the same in the coming days.
 

Lakeshore reopens after a 12-hour closure

North Bay drivers should be in the clear this morning on Lakeshore Drive. This is after a 12-hour closure between Marshall Avenue and Mulligan Street. It was closed starting at 6 p.m yesterday. A detour has been in place. The closure was in place due to construction.
 

OPP respond to fatal rollover

Manitoutlin OPP is continuing its investigation following a fatal rollover. It happened on June 13th at approximately 1:50 a.m. OPP Paramedics and the Assiginack Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 6. An investigation revealed that a pick-up truck travelling southbound left the roadway which resulted in a rollover. The driver of the vehicle, an 18 years-old from Whitefish River was pronounced deceased.
 

DSBNE announces new CFO/Sup of Business and Treasurer

District School Board Ontario North East has a new Superintendent of Business and Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. Lisa Edwards is joining the team with extensive experience overseeing multiple geographically dispersed operations and working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders. There is no word as to the start date.
 

PHU medical officer says a “Gradual Reopening is coming”

The PHU medical officer of health says current restrictions will remain in place for now. Dr. Lianne Catton indicated in a statement rolling just ahead of the weekend that the area simply did not have the numbers to justify joining the rest of the province in loosening COVID restrictions. She indicates the extension of regional restrictions likely to remain in place until June 24.
 

Voting members encouraged to reject the new offer

Vale has presented a concessionary offer to striking Steelworkers Local 6500 in Greater Sudbury. That said, it’s an offer the union’s bargaining committee recommends voting members reject. The union’s bargaining committee says it has “similar takeaways with minimal improvements” over the initial offer. Members will be voting on the new offer today.

NBSP announce a COVID-19 outbreak at Jail

The North Bay Parry Sound health unit has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the North Bay Jail. While the exact number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 was not specified, individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 are currently self-isolating and the health unit has contacted individuals deemed to be at high risk.
