North Bay is hosting Mining Week this week in the city. A collaborative initiative between community partners the week focus on the importance of the mining industry to the local economy. The event will run from May 8 to May 12 and activities will take place throughout the city.
In Greater Sudbury, Mine rescue teams from in seven districts in Ontario, including Sudbury and Onaping districts will compete in areas of emergency response and skill this week. May 10-12th is the District Mine Rescue Competitions. Four teams and equipment technicians will compete at the McClelland Arena in Copper Cliff.
