Influenza outbreak continues for second week

Health Sciences North in Greater Sudbury says, an ongoing issue of an outbreak continues for a second week. HSN says they’re currently monitoring issues regarding Influenza B. So far, the hospital says it remains in the Oncology Unit, at the Ramsey Lake Health Centre.
 

Police seeking suspect in road-rage incident

The cold weather and icy conditions have some on edge, and the OPP say that they’re seeking one man wanted in a case, of road rage. It happened on Algonquin Ave. just before the weekend where one man punched another mans car hood, causing damage. While there is no word as to what caused the issue, Constable Shawna Camairand says…

 

Sudbury hires integrity commissioner

Sudbury has made the decision hired an integrity commissioner, ahead of a provincially mandated deadline. City council voted to have the watchdog, in charge of investigating allegations of conflict of interest, or any contravention of the municipal code of conduct. The commissioner will be in place by December, 2018. The deadline is March, 2019.
 

More students knocking down deficit

More Students than forecasted have come through the doors of Near North District Schools this year, and that’s not a bad thing. The Near North District School Board says more than 170 students than it projected have come in for the 2017-18 school year. The influx, primarily in the elementary division, has helped to cut the school board’s projected $700,600 deficit of just over by almost $560,000.
 

Student hired as part of school board

The voice of students at District School Board Ontario North East will become a little louder this week. This is after Brianna Julien… a grade 12 student at an area school was elected to the board. She is not only the first indigenous student on the board, but the move creates another permanent student trustee position on the Board, increasing their number to three.
 

Man points gun at officers

Sault Ste. Marie Police say that one man is facing significant charges after pointing a gun at officers, point blank. Constable Sonny Spina says it all began with a noise complaint.

The weapon, turned out to be a bb-gun.
