Funding coming for those welcoming newcomers

Three Sudbury organizations will be able to provide all the warmer welcome to newcomers and refugees, thanks to an infuse from the Provincial Government in the amount of $540,000. The Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association, Collège Boréal and the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario will benefit.
 

Nurse slated to get her job back

A North Bay Nurse will be getting her job back, two years after getting fired. In a sizable report, an arbitrator ruled that Sue McIntyre is to be reinstated to her employment without loss of benefits or seniority, with back pay, after she was fired two years ago after comments regarding work place violence quoted in a news release.
 

Donation coming to Stoke Centre

Medical personnel that stand on call 24-hours a day, at the Timmins and District Hospital in the Stroke Centre, will soon have new equipment, thanks to a recent donation. The Timmins Professional Firefighters Association have given a cheque for just over $2,000 to the centre.
 

37-year-old busted for theft

A 37-year old male Sault Ste Marie male will have his day in court, after he allegedly took a storage truck from a Great Northern Road. The incident happened early Sunday, and while the details have not been released, the man is facing charges a number of charges including theft, possession of stolen property and possession of break-in tools.
 

19-year-old sought for breach


The Greater Sudbury Police Service is seeking the Public’s help in locating a 19-year-old wanted for breach. Darnell Peltier is known to frequent both Sudbury and Manitoulin areas. He is 6-foot-1, 140 pounds. He has blonde hair and brown eyes.
 

Influenza closes down Sault Area Hospital Unit

The Sault Area Hospital says another hospital-acquired outbreak of Influenza A has shut down one of their units, and is now turning away visitors. The Hospital says one patient has tested positive for the virus and two others are showing respiratory-like illnesses. They say effective immediately, the 3C medical unit will be closed to visitors until further notice.
