Sudbury Doctor’s Society joining the charge

The society representing Sudbury’s doctors says they’re joining the appeal challenging approval of a casino in the Nickle City. The Sudbury and District Medical Society says that they’re throwing their support behind Casino Free Sudbury’s plans to appeal should city councilors approve the rezoning needed to build the casino on the Kingsway.
 

Southern Ontario man facing multiple charges

The Greater Sudbury Police Service have took a Southern Ontario man into custody just before the weekend. It all came through surveillance of a residence on Hyland Drive off Regent Street. Drugs and Weapons were ceased, as well as just over $1,200 in Canadian currency. A further investigation revealed he was also wanted by Waterloo Police Service on a raft of charges.
 

$2 mil repair Job heading for approval this week

Timmins City Council will be asked this week to approve a repair job costing more than $2.2 million. It all pertains to an older section of the Airport Road sewage treatment plant. The primary clarifier was originally built in 1964… and the work includes replacing the old sludge pump, adjacent suction piping and dewatering valves and pipes.
 

New program joining forces with Sault College

Sault College is taking the aviation program to new heights, thanks to a new partnership. Air Georgian’s SOAR program for aviation career awareness, recruitment and retention has picked the Ontario College as their 14th partner. The partnership provides a career pathway for instructors of Sault College to join Air Georgian as first officers, giving them an entry point into the Air Canada network.
 

Pair of collisions in North Bay

North Bay Police say they were on-scene of a pair of collisions yesterday afternoon. While both occurred very much at the time… they were at different intersections. The first took place at the McIntyre and Fraser when a westbound driver entering the intersection against the light and hitting a northbound vehicle on Fraser. Another two-vehicle collision took place at a Seymour Street intersection beside the Esso Station. Neither collision resulted in serious injuries.
 

Sudbury man charged with Arson.

A Sudbury man has been charged with arson. This is following a fire at a downtown apartment. The call came at around 12:30 p.m. yesterday in the area of a complex on Beech Street. A male had been observed throwing an incendiary device into the porch area and then fleeing the scene. The fire was extinguished with minimal damage.
