Human Remains under investigation

Sudbury OPP say they’re investigating a human remains near the Killarney turnoff. In a release, police said officers got a call just before the weekend, about an abandoned passenger vehicle on Highway 637, approximately 8 km west of Highway 69. Officers from Sudbury, the Canine Unit, the Emergency Response Team and Forensic Identification Services responded. Police located the remains outside the vehicle. The identity of the deceased has not been confirmed.
 

Collision results in vehicle fire

A collision between North Bay and Sturgeon Falls resulted in at least one vehicle catching fire. It all happened on Highway 17 yesterday. Witness directed OPP just west of Eagles Nest Gas Bar where flames were visible along with heavy smoke. The accident reportedly involved a transport and another smaller vehicle. There is no word, as to injuries.
 

TDHA continues to seek community partner

Bids continue to roll in as the Timmins and District Hospital moves to privatize their sleep clinic. Evidently study on what it means to get a good night sleep, as peeked the interest from proponents to continue the service. This comes as the hospital is seeking a partner, take over the service in order to help the hospital balance its $1 million deficit.
 

Fire in Soo blamed in unattended cooking

Sault Ste. Marie Firefighters respond to a blaze at on Wellington St. W., late Saturday. The fire, called in just before midnight, evidently was able to spread next door a business before being put out. Thankfully everyone was able to get out, without injury. The fire has been blamed on unattended cooking.
 

Fire in Soo blamed in unattended cooking

Sudbury Fire crews were able to get one male out of an apartment filled with smoke just before the weekend. The blaze happened on Lourdes. An investigation showed the fire that was caused by an unattended pot on the stove in the kitchen. The lone male was transported to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. Even thought fire Damage was minor, smoke damage was listed, with damages pegged at $50,000.
 

Highway closed due to beaver dam break

Just south of North Bay, South Shore Road was washed out Sunday after a beaver dam was broken. The flow of water collapsed much of the road near the intersection of Cedar Bay Rd. Barriers were eventually put into place around the collapsed road and a backhoe was needed to fill in a damaged lane way.

Wanted: Chad McGregor, 41

The Anishinabek Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance to locate a wanted person, thought to be in the Sudbury area. Chadwick McGregor, is 41-years-old. He is wanted on a number of charges including for assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, uttering threats. McGregor is described as 5-foot-10 and weighing approximately 180 pounds and was last reported to be in the Greater Sudbury area.
